In the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of primates, genes such as SLIT1, RBP4, PNMA5, and SPARC are specifically expressed. SLIT1 is strongly expressed in higher association areas, particularly the PFC, and its regional differences are formed during postnatal development. RBP4 and PNMA5 are widely expressed in specific layers of higher association areas. These genes play crucial roles in the functional characteristics and developmental processes of the PFC, providing important insights into the structure and function of the PFC.
